European Dockworkers and Port workers defend stable and quality employment in ports. This has been indicated by the most representative unions of European ports during the III General Assembly of the European Dockworkers Council (EDC) held in Portugal.
The general coordinator of EDC, Antony Tetard, reaffirms the group’s commitment to protecting social rights and a safe work environment.
The defense of employment against technological challenges such as automation in ports, concern about the application of the recent ETS directive to maritime transport or the work that
EDC is carrying out in Brussels were other topics analyzed during the assembly that took place in the port of Leixões, in Matosinhos.
The organization is made up of 13 trade union organizations from 11 European countries, representing more than 15,000 dock and port workers.
